A note from Misty

Dear Reader,

I've been living in the in-between for almost twelve months now.

You see, almost exactly a year ago, something happened in my personal life that knocked me straight off my axis, and I haven't been the same since. The woman I had been up until that point, she no longer existed. But the woman I was becoming hadn't arrived yet, either.

And so I've spent much of this past year somewhere in the middle: unsteady, uneasy, untethered. My compass broken and my North Star hidden behind the clouds.

If there ever was an in-between year, this has been mine.

The in-between is that time, well, in between the more obvious chapters of our lives. One thing has ended or shifted, but whatever comes next hasn't quite arrived.

You might be in between houses, jobs, relationships, seasons of your life, or like me, versions of yourself.

During these periods, I always want to know: What comes next? I want the clarity, the plan, the answer. I find myself trying to force it or rush toward the next "thing," and somehow that seems to make it take even longer.

So as I have been sitting with this idea of the in-between season, I've come to realize that maybe this season doesn't want me to figure anything out at all. Maybe it's asking me to stay here long enough for what's next to reveal itself. Maybe the clarity I am constantly searching for is as simple as trusting the in-between.

September Frequency: Trust the In-Between

Sankalpa: In every moment, I trust that I am right where I need to be.

This idea of staying in the in-between and trusting came to me during a Yin yoga practice. In Yin, we come to our edge, we find stillness, and we stay.

At first, there can be discomfort, resistance, maybe an urge to come out of the shape. But we find stillness in the edge. We don't run away from it, and we don't force ourselves further into the pose. We give the body time. And eventually, the body begins to soften and open on its own.

Maybe the in-between works the same way. Sometimes we have to sit in the uncomfortable, unsteady space between what was and what's next.

What's next can't be forced. Control won't get us there any faster. But time, stillness, and trust might allow us to open naturally to whatever is on the horizon.

Practice With Me

I created this practice to help us embody this month's frequency, not just think about it.

We'll begin with somatic tapping before moving into a slow Yin practice where we'll explore our edges, practice staying with stillness, and give the body permission to soften in its own time.

Your Trust the In-Between Ritual

I invite you to try this ritual every morning for the next 30 days.

Drink your first cup of coffee or hot tea in silence. No screens. No podcasts. No planning out your day.

Allow yourself to simply sit and exist in the space between waking and moving into your day of doing.

It's a simple way to practice trusting the in-between and experience what it feels like to move mindfully from one state into the next.

Go Deeper

And if you're craving a little more space to practice this kind of intentional transition, you're invited to join me for Gather & Ground, my fall retreat.

My seasonal retreats are designed to be a pause between seasons and I keep these retreats small (12 women) and intimate on purpose. A chance for us to step away from ordinary life for a few hours to slow down, connect with other women, and intentionally cross the threshold into a new season.

Eight mats remain open. Claim yours below.

Tune out the noise. Tune back into yourself.

Twice a month, I'll send you a note inspired by a new monthly Frequency, with practices, reflections, and reminders to help you slow down, listen inward, and live a life that feels like you. Each month's Frequency is an invitation to remember an aspect of ourselves we may have forgotten, like trust, adventure, presence, pleasure, or rest, and bring a little more of it into our everyday lives.
