🎄The Morning Bloom: The Unspoken Expectations of Christmas

❄️Returning to Simple this Season❄️

Good morning Reader,

Merry Christmas to you and yours which is somehow only 4 days away! How did we get here so quickly? It feels like 2025 just started and yet here we are celebrating the end.

This week I had a few personal appointments and I noticed that everywhere I went I had the same conversation with people. They would say "oh, are you ready for the holidays? I bet you've been so busy getting ready! It's been so hectic for me because of X, Y and Z."

And the more I think about it, the more it blows my mind. When did "busy" become the unspoken expectation of Christmas? Somewhere along the way the world convinced us that we needed to have busy calendars and kitchens, a Christmas tree stuffed with presents and a bank account that is hanging on by a thread.

But here’s the quiet truth I keep coming back to, it was never intended to be this way and we don't have to keep carrying it on.

We don’t have to go over the top.
We don’t have to overextend ourselves.
We don’t have to overconsume, overspend, or overfill our days to make this season meaningful.

It’s okay to keep it simple and soft.
It’s okay to say no.
It’s okay to choose rest, presence and genuine connection.

And that is exactly what I am doing this year. Keeping it soft and simple. A couple of thoughtful gifts. A simple and nourishing meal. My undivided attention to my loved ones. A whispered prayer to the universe.

These are the gifts that mean the most to me this time of year. And I have my suspicions that this is the way Christmas is meant to be celebrated. Family, friends, community and prayers of gratitude.

So I would love to invite you to celebrate this season a little more softly and gently. Maybe start by having a real conversation with one of those family members you never see. Give them your full attention and really hold space for them. Eat your Christmas meal slowly and with intention, giving thanks for the food that nourishes you. Perhaps say a prayer if it's been awhile.

Don't forget to show yourself a little love, too. We can't pour from an empty cup, so make sure you fill yours, too.

🎥 Practice With Me

Of course I created a practice to help you fill your cup during this season. It's gentle, simple and short enough to fit into any schedule, no matter how busy your week may be.

Yoga Nidra for Burnout

20 minute practice to help you bring your nervous system back into balance.

Soft Reset Yoga

10 minute practice to help you softly reset your body, mind and energy.

Upcoming Events

If you are craving in person connection and a physical place to softly reset and fill your cup, I’d love to invite you to join me for the New Year, Soft Start Retreat. We’ll spend the day moving, resting, nourishing and honoring the season we’re each in, without pressure to be anything other than what we are. The retreat is filling quickly (only 3 spaces remain), so make sure you grab your space if you intend to join us!

New Year Energy & Brahmacharya Hello Dear Reader, Happy 2026!🎆 As we begin a new year, I want to offer a different perspective, a yogic perspective that completely changed how I relate to New Year's resolutions. For a long time, I treated this month as a time to overhaul my life. New habits, big goals, fresh starts. Yet year after year, that approach left me feeling exhausted, stressed and like I had somehow failed before the year really began. What I understand now is this: the issue was...

Hi Reader, Happy New Year to you! 🩶 If you’re feeling a little off today, you’re not alone. The holidays tend to leave us with too much sugar, maybe more alcohol than usual, lots of socializing, late nights and sleep schedules that are all over the place. By the time January rolls around, it can feel tempting to overhaul everything. New habits, new routines, new rules. But here’s the truth:We’re still in the thick of winter. Nature isn’t rushing. It’s resting, conserving energy and slowly...

❄️Winter Energy❄️ Hello Dear Reader, We are officially in winter (as of December 21st), the one season where nature visibly slows everything down. Trees stop producing. Plants direct their energy back into their roots. Animals rest more. Nothing is trying to create, grow, or expand right now. And yet, we live in a world that tells us the new year is the time to reinvent ourselves. We’re actively encouraged to take on new habits and fill our calendars with self improvement activities. Our...
